What inspires me in 2026?

Dorset Art Weeks has been approaching fast for the last 3 months! The dilemma for me was that I was struggling to find anything that really’ lit my spark’ to give me the much needed enthusiasm to get stuck in and dust my pastels off. Two things happened that thankfully gave me the much needed push – pelargoniums and acrylics!

A change is as good as a rest apparently so acrylics gave me the challenge and the refreshing feel of paint on brush coupled with the bumper crop of pelargoniums under our veranda. A marriage made in heaven for someone like me who loves colour and pushing myself to try new ( only to me obviously!) colour combinations. Thank you Jacksons Art and Husband with green fingers.

I am happy to report that soft pastels are not abandoned – and are gradually creeping back onto the easel. But first there is an art trail venue to be a part of and an en plein air event to help organise and deliver!

So some of my new work will be in Jubilee Hall Poundbury alongside some fabulous artists all with their own distinct styles! Please bring your sunglasses as colour is high on my agenda🤩. Hope to see you there.

I thought I was a geranium
